We love this old article on JJ Grey and Mofro, which appeared in North Florida’s Folio Weekly after the release of Blackwater but before the recording of Lochloosa. It was still the early days for the band, and JJ was at a crossroads in many ways, but pushing ever forward, growing and evolving. It that sense, this story seems as fitting an introduction to his world as ever.

Galactic on Tipitina's Hall of Fame

In a nighttime ceremony on the corner of Napoleon and Tchopitoulas in their hometown of New Orleans, Galactic was inducted into Tipitina’s Walk Of Fame. Their illuminated sidewalk medallion joined those of Irma Thomas, the Neville Brothers, The Dixie Cups, Walter Wolfman Washington, and other legends of the Crescent City music scene. WWOZ DJ David Kunian gave a great speech / roast to a crowd overflowing the sidewalk and spilling out onto the street. A great honor and major milestone for a band entering their 16th year together.
